Water Plant Maintenance Specialist
The City of Bardstown is looking for a qualified individual to fill the full-time position of Water Plant Maintenance Specialist.
Job Duties:
- Performs maintenance, including preventive maintenance, on water plant, distribution tanks, and pumping stations.
- Makes repairs and/or adjustments as necessary; forwards major repairs and/or equipment needs to superiors.
- Supervises subordinate employees who assist with maintenance duties.
- Assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the water plant in compliance with established procedures and standards and federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
- Inspects pumps, charts, gauges, and meters on a scheduled basis.
- Adjusts chemicals in accordance with prescribed standards; collects water samples and performs laboratory tests or forwards water samples as required; prepares, records and forwards lab results.
- Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of parts, equipment, chemicals, tools, etc.
- Prepares and maintains accurate reports/records.
- Assists in maintaining and cleaning plant and grounds.
Salary/benefits

Requirements
Qualified applicants must have a combination of education and/or work experience that would allow them to perform the related duties. Class IV Water Plant Operators license preferred but not required. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Job Duties:
- Performs daily operation and maintenance duties at the wastewater plant in compliance with established procedures and standards and federal, state and local laws and ordinances.

- Adjusts chemicals in accordance with prescribed standards; collects samples and performs laboratory tests or forwards to laboratories as required; prepares, records and forwards lab results.

Public Works Maintenance/Operator
The City of Bardstown is looking for a qualified individual to fill the full-time position of Maintenance/Operator in our Public Works department.
Job Duties:
- Assists in the construction, maintenance and cleanliness of City streets, roads, water distribution lines, sewer collection lines, bridges, sidewalks, alleys, storm sewers, culverts, manholes, drainage ditches, street signs, barricades, etc.
- Makes water taps.
- Installs/repairs/replaces meters.
- Operates vehicles and equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance duties on vehicles and equipment.
- Cleans and properly stores equipment and tools after use.
- Mows grass, cuts trees and tree limbs.
- Spreads gravel; cleans streets and roads; removes snow and ice from streets and sidewalks when necessary.
- Cleans out storm sewers and catch basins; pours concrete; makes forms; makes, erects and/or repairs street signs as necessary.

Requirements

Electrical Lineman
Under general supervision, performs construction, service and maintenance of underground and overhead circuits; performs as electrician for City Departments as needed; performs related duties as required. May direct the work of Apprentice Lineman and/or Groundman in the absence of Electric Superintendent.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installs, services and maintains overhead and underground circuits, including power lines and circuits.
- Runs services, sets poles, trims trees, etc.
- Performs meter hook-ups and transformer change outs.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining records and reports.
- Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies, spare parts, tools and equipment.
- Clears rights-of-way.
- Operates heavy equipment assigned to Division safely and efficiently.
- Detects malfunctions in equipment and makes minor repairs; recommends major repairs to superiors.
- Performs preventive maintenance duties on equipment; cleans and properly stores equipment and tools after use.
- Assists other Departments/Divisions with electrical work as requested.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED).
- Promotion from Apprentice Lineman to Electric Lineman I after 3+ years experience as an apprentice lineman, or equivalent.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, administrative regulations and ordinances reference installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in the service and maintenance of electrical utility systems.
- Knowledge of work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with equipment, vehicles, tools and procedures; ability to comply with established safety standards.
Abilities:
- Ability to climb poles and work from hooks.
- Ability to work at varying heights, either on poles or in bucket, for extended periods of time.
- Ability to operate motorized equipment.
- Ability to detect mechanical problems and make minor repairs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officers, employees and the general public.
- Possess mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and good physical condition.
Physical Requirements of the Job:
Work involves sitting, standing, stooping, walking and climbing; must lift light objects weighing more than 25 pounds as a job requirement; must use pole climbers and bucket truck; must not be afraid of height; must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods of time; must drive and operate vehicles and equipment assigned to Division; exposed to high places, confined spaces, and using stairs and ladders.
Special Licensing Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid commercial drivers license.
Availability:
Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours. May be required to perform stand-by duties. May be required to work scheduled overtime.
Additional Requirements:
Must participate in mandatory drug and alcohol testing in order to maintain commercial drivers license.
