Welcome!

The sign regulations for the City of Bardstown ensure that everyone is treated fairly and consistently with the rules and regulations. They help to maintain and enhance the aesthetic environment and the City’s ability to attract sources of economic development and growth. The regulations also improve pedestrian and traffic safety. In order to receive a city sign permit, you must fill out the city sign permit application (link below) and include all documentation listed on the form.

The following supporting documentation must be submitted with a completed and signed application:

FOR ALL SIGNS

A sketch or drawing of the proposed sign indicating dimensions and computations.

FOR FREESTANDING SIGNS

A site plan showing the property dimensions, location of existing and proposed signs, buildings, parking areas, driveways, landscaped areas, and location and setbacks of existing and proposed freestanding signs. Note: Freestanding signs shall not be located within right-of-way or easements.

FOR BUILDING SIGNS

Building elevations showing facade dimensions and location of existing and proposed building- mounted signs.

FOR ELECTRONIC CHANGEABLE COPY SIGNS

Manufacturer specifications providing the maximum nit (or equivalent) rating of the sign; Evidence from manufacturer that the sign is equipped with the required automated light sensing device; Notarized affidavit signed by the property owner acknowledging compliance with automatic level controls to reduce light levels at night and under cloudy or other darkened conditions.

ALL SIGN APPLICATIONS

Applicable sign permit and late fees, nonrefundable, payable to the City of Bardstown.

The fee per sign is $33. If you have any questions you may review the Sign Regulations (link below) or contact The City Sign Administrator L. RaShae Jennings at 502-348-5947 Ext. 2243 or email rjennings@bardstowncable.net.
